Program UPSTREAM (Bangkok – Ayuthaya): Daily departure at 14:30 hrs. (Except on every Friday, no cruise up)

Day 1: Bangkok- Mekhala (D)
Start cruising up the Chao Phraya River with spectacular views of the Grand Palace and the Temple of Dawn . Just after the sunset, the MEKHALA docks at Wat Kai Tia, a Thai temple set in a tranquil rural village. An exquisite candlelit dinner of mouth-watering Thai cuisine is served on the deck. Overnight on board in your air-conditioned cabin.

Day 2: Mekhala - Ayuthaya (B)
An option for alms offering to monk can be made prior to a delicious breakfast served on board. Then depart for Bang-Pa-In Summer Palace where you will disembark nearby at approx. 10h00.

Program DOWNSTREAM (Ayuthaya – Bangkok): Daily departure at 14h30 (except on every Saturday, no cruise down)

Day 1: Ayuthaya - Mekhala (D)
Start cruising downstream from the pier near Bang – Pa – In Palace, captivating the spectacular views of rural life along the “River of Kings”. Just after the sunset, the MEKHALA docks at Wat Kai Tia, a Thai temple set in a tranquil rural village. An exquisite candlelit dinner of mouth-watering Thai cuisine is served on the deck. Overnight on board in your air-conditioned cabin.

Day 2: Mekhala - Bangkok (B)
An option for alms offering to monk can be made prior to a delicious breakfast on board, cruise down the river to Bangkok, passing spectacular views of the Grand Palace and the Temple of Dawn. Arrive Bangkok in the late morning.

PROGRAM UPSTREAM
- Greetings by our guide upon disembarkation at the pier near the Bang--Pa-In Summer Palace of King Rama V. Visit to the Palace.
- Continue by a long-tail boat to view life style of people along the riverside. Followed by a visit to the archeological site of the once glorious capital, Ayuthaya.
- After lunch, our air-conditioned car or mini-bus will take you back to your hotel in Bangkok.

Mekhala Boats
Twenty meters long and constructed from huge teak planks, the hundred year-old work horses have been transformed into elegant floating hotels. With capacities of 6, 6 and 9 immaculately appointed, air-conditioned double bed cabins with private western style bathrooms. In addition they feature:
· Modern safety equipment and lifejackets
· Thai style designs with western comforts
· A deck for sunbathing or lounging
· Audio entertainment, a library, a host of indoor games and a telephone
· A fully-stocked bar

Access

The Mekhala is stationed at The Menam Riverside Hotel, nearby Sathorn Road in Bangkok, return transfer from Ayuthaya is included. For trips starting in Ayuthaya, pick ups are either from the airport or hotels in Bangkok by private vehicle.
